Severn Gorge Countryside Trust

Severn Gorge Countryside Trust manages most of the woodland, grassland and other countryside within the Ironbridge Gorge World Heritage Site. South Telford Heritage Trail

The South Telford Heritage Trail is a 12 mile circular walking route that takes you on a journey around known, and lesser known, heritage sites within the Parishes of Stirchley & Brookside, Madeley, Dawley Hamlets and the Gorge.

Cycling

Cycling enthusiasts of all abilities find the Ironbridge Gorge a fascinating area to explore. Telford itself has an extensive network of traffic-free cycling routes and the area is crossed by three long distance national routes. Getting about is safe and easy.

cycling in Ironbridge & TelfordCycling in the Gorge itself is mostly alongside the River Severn. NCR45, the Mercian Way, which runs alongside the southern bank. This was created along the route of a railway line and is flat and mainly off road.

Cycling out of the Gorge allows visitors to experience some breathtaking scenery of Telford & Shropshire, from the views of the Wrekin on cycle route 45 to the breathtaking architecture of The Cold War Museum Building at RAF Cosford on cycle route 81.
